Organ Pîb, St Ioan, Abermaw
Wedi'i leoli yn yr Eglwys fwyaf a ddyluniwyd gan cwmni John Douglas a Daniel Fordham, mae'n debyg mai'r offeryn hwn yw 'r organ bibell mecanyddol fwyaf yn Gogledd Cymru. Darparwyd yr arian ar gyfer adeiladu Eglwys Sant Ioan gan Mrs Frances Sarah Dyson Perrins (yn ddiweddarach Williams) er cof am ei gŵr James Dyson Perrins cyn-berchennog Lea & Perrins a thad Charles William Dyson Perrins. Tra bod eu mam yn ariannu'r adeiladu roedd ei phlant yn darparu dodrefn i'r Eglwys ynghyd â'r offeryn sylweddol hwn, yn rhoddedig gan merch Mrs Perrins, Sarah Gerturde Potter er cof am ei thad. O ystyried y cysylltiad teuluol â Chaerwrangon, roedd Nicholson yn ddewis naturiol o adeiladwr organau. Er i'r organ gael ei gosod yn 1895 trefnwyd i'r Eglwys gael ei chwblhau yn 1892 hyd nes i'r Tŵr gwympo wrth ei gwblhau.
Dyluniwyd flaen yr offeryn gan John Douglas ac mae'n ymgorffori pibellau Diapason yn y blaen gydag ochrau sydd yn edrych heb eu gorffen. Mae pob rhan o'r offeryn hwn yn hynod o hawdd i'w gyrraedd ac wedi cael eu hadeiladu o deunyddiau gorau sydd wedi gwrthsefyll prawf amser. Ar wahân i'r pedalbwrdd o blac, pedal ymchwydd mwy diweddar, chwythwr trydan a'r posibilrwydd o amnewid y Principal gyda Viol D'Orchestre mae'r organ yn agos at y cyflwr gwreiddiol i lawr i ' r 3 ysgogiadau pwmp llaw sy'n dal i weithio a'r y gronfeydd sylweddol gwynt.
Mae ' r organ yn parhau i chwarae rhan mewn gwasanaethau a datganiadau ac mae'r rhan fwyaf yn parhau i weithredu ond ar ôl 124 mlynedd o wasanaeth ymroddedig bellach yn dangos ei hoed. Yn ystod Hydref 2014 rhoddwyd rhestr gradd II * i'r organ ar y Gofrestr Organ Bibell Genedlaethol Hanesyddol.
Mae croeso i ymwelwyr chwarae'r organ (i unrhyw safon) drwy drefnu ymlaen llaw gyda'r Periglor, warden neu organydd - Mae hyn er mwyn sicrhau fod y Consol wedi'i ddatgloi.
Pipe Organ, St John's, Barmouth
Located in the largest Church designed by John Douglas & Daniel Fordham, this instrument is probably one of the largest fully mechanical Pipe Organ in North Wales. Funding for construction of St John’s Church was provided by Mrs Frances Sarah Dyson Perrins (later Williams) in memory of her husband James Dyson Perrins former owner of Lea & Perrins and father of Charles William Dyson Perrins. Whilst their mother was funding the construction of the building her children provided the furnishings of the Church along with this sizeable instrument, donated by Mrs Perrins daughter Sarah Gerturde Potter in memory of her father. Given the family connection with Worcester, Nicholson’s was a natural choice of Organ Builder. Whilst the organ was installed in 1895 the Church was scheduled for completion in 1892 until the tower collapsed as they were completing it.
The instrument casework was designed by John Douglas and incorporates Diapason pipes at the front with the sides of the casework looking unfinished. All parts of this instrument are extremely easy to get to and are constructed of the finest materials that have withstood the test of time. With the exception of a newer concave pedalboard, balanced swell pedal, electric blower and possible replacement of the Swell Principal with a Viol D’Orchestre the organ is in near original condition right down to the still functioning 3 hand pump levers and the very sizeable wind reservoirs.
The Organ continues to play a part in services and recitals and for the most part continues to operate but after 127 years of dedicated service is now showing its age. During October 2014 the Organ was given a grade II* listing on the Historic National Pipe Organ Register.
Visitors are welcome to play the Organ (to any standard) by prior arrangement with the Incumbent, Churchwarden or Organist - this is only to ensure that the console is unlocked.
